Art Therapy with nature

Art can be intrinsically linked to our interactions with the natural environment and there is much evidence of the benefits of being in and around nature for both physical and mental wellbeing.

We believe that connecting with nature is integral to positive wellbeing.

We have adapted our art therapy approaches to be able to explore and utilize the natural world and our outdoor space for groups and individuals.

How we do this varies, sometimes you might be using natural materials outdoors for a whole session, other times bringing them indoors. In whatever way you choose you can use nature as a source of inspiration, enjoyment, and self-discovery.

Art and nature can be interlinked

Not only in how you approach your art making but also in how you forage and collect the natural objects which you want to use within your art making.

Simply being around and handling objects in nature can influence and inspire your creative mind in a stimulating, relaxing and positive way

THIS CAN BE AS A ONE TO ONE SESSION WITH THE ART THERAPIST OR AS A GROUP ACTIVITY

You will all have different experiences of nature and different reasons for wanting to connect with it. This can be discussed and explored further through your art making, your selection of objects and your memories associated with it. In this way self-awareness and sharing with others work together in nature for a fulfilling experience.

I feel I have gained a greater understanding of who I am, where I have come from and where I want to be in my life.

I now feel able to connect with art and nature in my own time and feel more confident about how it can help me relax

The companionship that have I have found in this group has been so beneficial to me.
